Fri 13May16 - Sun15May16 Honister Hause Walking Weekend £33 for 2 nights

Honister is a must for any dedicated walker! It is in true mountain country in the Western Lake District with easy access to England’s highest peaks, with steep valleys stretching down to Derwentwater to create a beautiful and distinctive landscape.

Places are limited so grab a bargain quick. If you snooze you lose.

Subject to weather and the group the Saturday and Sunday walks will be to bag the following Wainwright’s:-

·      Fleetwith Pike (648m) and Haystacks (597m).

·      Dale Head (753m), Hindscarth (727m) and Robinson (727m).

Beginners are welcome, but try do a few Yorkshire Dale practice walks first. This will be a proper mountain walking weekend up some of the country’s highest peaks. We want you to come and you will be supported but you need to prepare.

Sorry places can’t be reserved without full payment, or sold as individual nights. The total cost is only £33 for 2 nights. Contact the organiser (Mike Ramplin) for his bank payment details to book.

This is a remote area (which is the exciting attraction) with no pubs, shops, petrol stations, wi-fi for miles and little or no mobile signal.

We will make our own entertainment and the YHA have a bar, serve a good breakfast, packed lunches, dinner and have self-catering kitchen if you want to bring your own.

Don’t be put off by the bargain price if you have never stayed at a YHA before. They offer good quality accommodation but we got a fantastic group discount for Take A Hike private rooms (separate male or female).

Alternative accommodation is available but please try buy up the pre-paid beds first. Twin rooms for couples, B&B and camping may be a lot more expensive without the discounts and prices will increase the longer you leave it. Contact them directly for these alternatives.

Day visitors are welcome but sleepover is more practical given the long distance and poor phone signal. Let Mike know if you are coming and if you would like to join our group meals and evening socialising.

Remember this is a Take A Hike members only weekend, but it is easy to join the club and it is a great way to meet new walking friends.

Mike will try help arrange car sharing to save petrol.

Address:  YHA Honister Hause, Keswick, Cumbria.

The nearest post code is CA12 5XN (Seatoller) but the YHA is 1.3miles west of there.
