District walking weekend £19.95 for 2 nights Celebrate St Valentine’s with friendly
lovers of the great outdoors for a Take A Hike (20-40s) walking weekend at
Coniston in one of the most scenic areas of the Lake District with
accommodation and guided walks for less than £9.99 per night. Meals are not
included. Situated close to the lakes & mountains
we can follow the heritage trails up the old mining tracks onto the jagged
glaciated landscape that looks quite Alpine in winter, for 360 degree views
of Lancashire, Yorkshire, Scotland, coastline, lakes and tarns. Don’t be put off by the bargain price if
you have never stayed at an YHA before. They offer good quality accommodation
but we got a fantastic group Take A Hike discount for our members with
separate male and female rooms for our sole use. Sorry places can’t be reserved without full
payment, or sold as individual nights. The total cost for the weekend (2
nights) is only £19.95 so don’t dither and snap-up a bargain. Places are

payment details. The Agenda:- Friday - Reception
opens from 5pm. Then evening pub meal. Some may arrive early for walks. Saturday - The Old
Man of Coniston (803m) walk. Then coffee, cake & evening pub meal. Sunday - Wetherlam
(762m). Then coffee, cake & goodbyes. Expect hardish walks about 9 miles up
Wainwright mountain routes with icy steep rocky paths, scree and scrambling
but nothing too severe, great fun and well within most people’s ability.
Watch the diary for details. Beginners are welcome, we want you to come
and you will be supported but try do a few Yorkshire Dale practice walks
first to test your ability and equipment. Please note this event is only open to TAH
or affiliated members, but you soon recoup the subscription with the great
discounts, free guided walks, excellent social nights and making new walking
